If you suspect an attack, disconnect — do not delete

Unplug affected machines from the network if you safely can, but do not wipe or "clean" anything. Preserving the state matters for containment and for understanding what happened.

Stop paying or changing anything under pressure

Do not pay a ransom, transfer funds, or act on an urgent instruction that arrived with the incident until you have talked to us. Attacks are often designed to rush you.

Write down what you saw

The time it started, the first symptom, any message on screen. A few notes now save hours later.
